ORGANIZER
University Philharmonic Orchestra, HKUSTSU
The University Philharmonic Orchestra (UPO), HKUSTSU, is a student-led society registered under the Student Union of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Established in 2005 through the merging of the Wind Ensemble and Strings Ensemble, UPO has evolved into a unique and vibrant musical entity. It offers students, alumni, and staff a platform to pursue their passion for music and showcase their talents to the HKUST community and beyond.
As a cultural ambassador for HKUST, UPO not only enhances the campus’s artistic offerings but also connects with the wider Hong Kong community through its performances. Its mission is to inspire audiences, nurture musical talent, and bring people together through the universal language of music.
The University Philharmonic Orchestra (UPO) is a passion-driven ensemble that thrives on the genuine love for music shared by its members, who include students, alumni, and staff. Unlike other orchestras tied to music faculties, UPO’s members join not out of academic obligation but purely for the joy of making music. This enthusiasm translates into heartfelt and meaningful performances, with members dedicating their time and energy to rehearsals and events to create something truly special.
