Tunatics A Cappella
Tunatics A Cappella was formed in 2015 at HKUST. Our name combines “Tune" and “Lunatics” and it stands for our passion for music. With members from diverse backgrounds, we bring a unique blend of musical influences to our performances.
We have achieved notable success in competitions. Recently, we participated in Hong Kong International A Cappella Contest, and got the International Champion, Hong Kong Champion, Best Harmony and Best Presentation Award in Open Division. In previous years, alumni of Tunatics were also winning in different international A Cappella Contests, including winning the Gold Award in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Art Exhibition in 2018, the Championship of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau College A Cappella Competition in 2016, 2020 and 2021, the Championship of Hong Kong and Macau Collegiate A Cappella Competition 2022, and the first runner up of Hong Kong International A Cappella competition 2023.
Our live concerts, such as "Origin" in 2017, "Butterfly" in 2019 “Lucid Dream” and “Winter Wonderland” in 2024, have captivated audiences with exceptional performances. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we successfully held our first online concert, "Breathe," in 2021, receiving praise from the HKUST and Hong Kong A Cappella community. Besides, we often receive invitations for performances in and out of school, including performing for the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. Our team is a good representative of HKUST arts and diversity around Hong Kong, since we are one of the best recognized singing groups in Hong Kong universities.
With a diverse repertoire spanning popular songs, classical pieces, and original compositions, we aim to create an unforgettable musical experience that resonates on an emotional level. Whether on stage or through digital platforms, we bring skill, passion, and captivating performances to every note.
