MentorHUB event: Common Mistakes of Startups with 1 on 1 Consultation Session

In this sharing session, our mentor Mr. LEE Kin Sum (Sam), Senior Manager of Strategic Planning from New World Development Company Limited, will share his insight on some common mistakes that a startup may have made, and blind spots being overlooked. Distilled from his daily observation and hands-on coaching experience, Mr. LEE will share some practical tips and solutions to tackle these issues.

The sharing session will be divided into two parts:

(Part 1) Sharing by Mr. LEE (18:00-18:30) Students who are interested in this sharing topic can join.

(Part 2) 1 on 1 Consultation session with Mr. LEE (18:30-19:15) Students who are having or plan to build their startup can join. Pre-registration is needed for this part and successful teams will be assigned a timeslot for meeting with Mr. LEE for closed door online consultation.

 

Remarks:

1. Students who are interested in this event, you are suggested to register as member of MentorHUB@HKUST before registration. Priority in joining this event will be given to the members of MentorHUB@HKUST.

2. You can only join the sharing by Mr. LEE. However, for the consultation session, pre-registration is needed and timeslot will be assigned by the organizer and confirmed by email. Successful registrants for the consultation will have 15 mins 1 on 1 closed door consultation with Mr. Lee.

3. Successful registrants for the sharing session (and consultation) will receive a confirmation email for the zoom link on or before 4 Nov 2020. Thank you.

 

Brief biography of Mentor

Mr. Sam Lee started his career in BNP Paribas Investment Partner in 2006. As an Investment Manager, Sam and his team managed over USD2 billion of assets covering listed equities investment in Asia Pacific, including the flagship fund of Asia Pacific Equity Team. In 2018, Sam joined the Executive Office of New World Development Company to advice the company on strategic planning and investment/M&A to develop new business and partnership. Now Mr. Lee serves as an independent advisor to a few companies and universities in Hong Kong. He is also a columnist for a couple of online media platforms.
