Individuals, teams, and organizations experience crisis from time to time. Crisis is unexpected and highly disruptive. As an example, the COVID-19 outbreak continues to impact all walks of life, and the human and economic cost is huge. Despite the downside of crisis, does crisis offer any upside at all? Prof. Yaping Gong’s recent research on “Crisis and Creativity” has provided a glimmer of hope. Using R&D employees as the sample, his research has examined when and how employee-experienced crisis may stifle or stimulate creativity. He will also share how he designed his research during the session.
