The American Chemical Society (ACS) takes the integrity of the research it publishes extremely seriously to maintain its status as ‘Most Trusted’. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools is essential in our editorial processes to spot discrepancies in the many thousands of submissions we receive each year, for example related to plagiarism, papermills, authorship for sale, compromised peer review, and image duplication/ manipulation. The ethics around the use of AI by authors and peer reviewers are also discussed, as society strives to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained.

The session also focuses on empowering researchers to make their work stand out. From the editor’s and reviewer’s perspective, it reveals the behind-the-scenes process of manuscript evaluation and offers practical guidance on how to prepare and present research clearly and professionally. By understanding editorial expectations and improving communication strategies, authors can be more effective in the global scientific dialogue.
