The booming of research on embedded/mobile intelligence has enabled the low-cost embedded devices to host more complex models, algorithms and software. Along with the capability of mobile sensing, more intelligent mobile systems are developed to provide unprecedented services to make our lives easier. In this talk, we will start with touching a bit on our previous research experience on a number of different sensing modalities then we will focus our most recent research on dynamic vision sensing with the background, signal processing and the machine learning models on the very new sensing modality.
Yiran Shen is a Professor at School of Software, Shandong University. His research aims to broaden the capability of resource-constrained platforms by introducing new sensing modalities, designing novel signal processing algorithms and optimizing cutting-edge machine learning models. He publishes regularly on high impact journals like TPAMI, TMC, TDSC, TON, and presents research results at top conferences, e.g., CVPR, Ubicomp, SenSys, IPSN, etc. Before joining Shandong University, Prof. Shen gained significant research experience when he was working overseas at CSIRO Australia and Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology(SMART), and pursing his PhD at University of New South Wales, Australia.
