2026 International Workshop on Methane Observation and Quantification

Methane emission reduction is a crucial imperative for curbing near-term global temperature rise and achieving significant climate benefits. However, the effectiveness of this effort hinges on the accuracy of emission monitoring and quantification. To meet this need, an integrated monitoring system that combines space-based, aerial, and ground-based technologies becomes indispensable for developing science-informed mitigation strategies.

Following the success of the previous workshops from 2023 to 2025, we are pleased to invite the global community to reconvene in Hong Kong for the 4th International Workshop on Methane Observation and Quantification. The event will be held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on June 8–9, 2026.

Designed as a premier global forum, this workshop will convene leading scholars and experts to collectively advance the science and technology of methane observation and quantification. Our goal is to forge the robust scientific foundation necessary to achieve global climate governance goals.

We warmly look forward to your participation in this collective endeavor to strengthen the scientific foundation and global collaboration essential for methane emission reduction.
