INTRODUCTION

The legendary Silk Road was not only a trade route but also a vibrant avenue of cultural exchange, bringing together a diverse array of musical instruments from the Mediterranean to Central Asia.

We are honored to host Ms Wu Man, an esteemed pipa virtuoso, accompanied by six other masterful musicians – Sanubar Tursun, Basel Rajoub, Feras Charestan, Sirojiddin Juraev, Abbos Kosimov, and Andrea Piccioni. Each artist hails from different corners of the Silk Road — the Middle East, Central Asia, and China — bringing with them rich, diverse backgrounds and intricate musical journeys.

Together, they gather at HKUST to delve into the boundless possibilities of music. This concert is a celebration that marks both the culmination of ten years of passionate experimentation and a decade of artistic exploration that has continually pushed the boundaries of traditional and contemporary music.
