Call for Proposals: Mainland - Hong Kong University Alliances Fund 2026-27

Invitation to Schools and Departments to submit funding proposals for the Mainland-Hong Kong University Alliances Fund 2026-27

The Fund, supported by the Education Bureau (EDB) and the University Grants Committee (UGC), aims to promote collaboration between Hong Kong and Mainland universities. We encourage you to submit your proposals via the secretariats of "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance (GHMUA)" (粵 港 澳 高 校 聯 盟 ), "Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance (BHUA)" (京 港 大 學 聯 盟 ), "Shanghai-Hong Kong University Alliance (SHUA)" (滬 港大 學 聯 盟 ) and Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance(JHMUA) ”(蘇 港 澳 高 校 合 作 聯 盟 ).  A maximum provision of HK$100K per project will be allocated. The application round of 2026-2027 is now calling for funding proposals.  

Implementation Period: 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027

Application Deadline: 30 June 2026

Provision and Scope of Funding:
1) A maximum provision of HK$100,000 will be allocated to each selected project (per year). The project could be held in or outside Hong Kong.

2)  Funding models vary by alliances. For upfront allocations, any unspent balance must be returned to the respective leading university. For reimbursement-based models, funding is disbursed after project completion based on actual expenses up to the approved ceiling.

3)  While the Education Bureau or UGC does not claim copyright or other intellectual property rightsin the output produced by universities, suitable acknowledgment of UGC funding should be included in the publication/publicity arrangements for projects/initiatives supported by this funding. 

1. Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance (GHMUA) 粵港澳高校聯盟

Funding: 

1. One-day activity: Up to HK$50,000 per project
2. Two-day activity: HK$100,000 per project

Funding: A maximum of HK$100,000 will be allocated to each selected project per financial year

Funding: A maximum provision of HK$100,000 will be allocated to each selected project (per fiscal year)

Implementation Period: 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027

• Professional administrative or academic staff development programmes
