Beijing-Hong Kong Master Class - Strategic Development of Universities for Future-Readiness in the Metaverse Era
Abstract
This talk begins with a summary of what happened in the past two years on online teaching and learning, and how a university like EdUHK reacted to these changes. Issues such as infrastructure, capacity building, and pedagogical innovations are discussed. We then make a reflection on what strategic actions a university might consider for preparing future-ready university students. Metaverse is about the virtual presence of oneself on top of our physical presence. It is timely to reflect on university education in two directions, one is how to embrace metaverse as part of our mode of teaching and learning; the other is how to accommodate this change in our curriculum for fostering future-readiness of graduates.
