Vanessa CHEUNG

Vanessa graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the music department of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), majoring in flute performance under Ms. Izaskun Erdocia. During her studies at HKBU, Vanessa actively participated in the HKBU wind symphony, women's chorus and other chamber music groups.

After finishing her studies at HKBU, Vanessa received a scholarship from the Hong Kong Government to pursue a music master degree at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) where she focused on orchestral conducting and research studies.

In addition to having over 10 years of flute performance experience, she holds a DipABRSM and a LRSM in flute performance and Grade 8 Music Theory. She also joined a masterclass with renowned musicians, including Michel Bellavance, Yee-Cheng Kan, Jari Puhakka, Megan Sterling, Olivier Nowak.

Currently, she is passionate in teaching flute and actively participating in different kinds of public performances.

Sybil WU

Sybil WU started learning flute at the age of nine. She graduated with a bachelor degree in music studies from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) in 2016 and was awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) in flute performance. She studies flute under the guidance of Izaskun Erdocia Uranga and received a master class from Ms. Catherine Cantin in 2018.

Wu always strives for chances to participate in musical activities. With the guidance of Dr. Lai Nga-Ting, Wu's first composition, "Seeking for the Last Untilled Arcs", which was scored for a quartet: oboe, violin, bassoon and cello, was awarded the composition scholarship under Hong Kong Composers' Guild (HKCG) mentorship scheme. She also received acclaim for her second composition, "Odyssey", as it was performed in the second year of Composition Annual Concert, broadcasted on RTHK Radio 4. Both scores are now kept in Hong Kong Central Library.

Wu’s singing talent was discovered in her two years as a 2nd alto member of Hong Kong Baptist University Choir. After graduation, Wu was invited to participate in the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) Women’s Chorus and performed in their Asian tour in five cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Vietnam and Japan. She was invited to be the vocalist and perform with the HKUSTSU University Philharmonic Orchestra.

Wu is now an active flutist educator in major music academies in Hong Kong and an active flute and piccolo performer in various orchestras. Apart from that, she also participates in pop song recordings as a flute soloist.
