Yifan SHEN received his B.Eng. degree in Information Engineering from the School of Electronic
and Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2019. He is currently a PhD student at
the ECE department of HKUST, under the supervision Prof. Bertram SHI. His research interest is
human-robot interaction
Pablo NAVARRETE received his Bachelor’s in Healthcare Engineering with a specialization in
Biomedical Engineering from the University of Malaga, Spain. He has been studying in HKUST for
the past five years. During his first two years, he pursued an MPhil with a focus on whole-cell
biosensing. After, he enrolled in the PhD program where he has been researching and developing
electrochemical microfluidic systems for the detection of human biomarkers at Prof. George
Yuan’s lab. His research interests include microfluidics, electrochemical detection, molecular
biology, and clinical monitoring.
