The 2024 Western Pacific International Cruise has marked the first international cruise under the "Digital Deep-Sea Typical Habitats" big science program. Its successful completion represents a significant milestone in advancing this initiative.
With the full support of Bank of China (Hong Kong), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) together with the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou), HKSARG Education Bureau, the Hong Kong Science Museum, the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre, Global Chinese Marine Biologists Association, and Digital DEPTH Hong Kong Office for International Cooperation, are going to co-organize the "Workshop on Research Progress from the Western pacific Cruise”.
This workshop aims to share the cruise research progress and further promote marine science public education through various sub-events, including a public exhibition of deep-sea samples, public science lectures, a marine science knowledge competition, and scientific reports. It will highlight the scientific significance and importance of deep-sea research expeditions, further popularize marine science knowledge, enhance public awareness, stimulate the curiosity and interest of young generation in marine field, as well as advance marine academic collaboration and knowledge sharing locally, nationally and internationally.
We warmly invite primary and secondary school students, undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers, marine scientists, and all those passionate about deep-sea exploration to join us onsite!
