Artificial Intelligence is reshaping everything, and journalism is no exception. To survive how should the news industry transform and meet the challenges ahead? Are there any new business models it can adopt? In a highly competitive environment where the industry is struggling to stay afloat, can journalism still say “NO” to power and money? Is journalism still truly the “Fourth Estate”, or is that claim just wishful thinking?

A veteran journalist with more than 30 years of experience, Professor Chan received his BA, Master of Communication and MBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and was a Fellow in Media Management at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in the United States.
He joined the Hong Kong Economic Journal in the mid-1980s, became Chief Editor in 2003, and later Executive Director and Deputy Publisher in 2010. He has also taught journalism and public affairs at tertiary institutions and served on the HKSAR Committee on Review of Public Broadcasting Service.

Mr. Teng is the Chief Editor of Hong Kong Economic Journal and editor of HKEJ Monthly.
He previously led the investigative reporting team at HKEJ and served as Senior News Editor at Phoenix TV, Director of International News at Oriental Daily, and Senior Reporter at Ta Kung Pao.
He is pursuing a DBA at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has served in public roles including the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong.
