Overcome Adversity and Serve the Community, a Three-Legged Dog

06:30pm - 07:30pm
Library LG4 Multi-function Room (LG426)

[This is a talk in Changemaker Gear Up Training Series (GUTS)

Join us for a heartening talk featuring the story of a three-legged therapy dog, Taxi Wong, who overcame adversity and touched the lives of many. Through the story of this remarkable dog, we will explore the vital role of animals in our communities and the importance of treating them with respect and care. This talk is designed to encourage students to recognise and value the contributions of animals and to foster the development of a more compassionate and empathetic community, particularly in regards to disabled animal welfare.

The speaker Rebecca Ngan, founder of the Mongrel Club, former PR and Communications Manager of SPCA and the mother of Taxi Wong, will share her journey with Wong and the challenges that the disabled animals are facing in Hong Kong. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from a furry mentor and ´unleash' your own power to care for the lives on land!

Speaker:Ms. Rebecca Ngan

Founder of the Mongrel Club and an experienced animal-welfare practitioner, has since her childhood been engaged with domestic pet cats and spouted her fond against animals.

She spent almost two decades promoting animal welfare at the SPCA and she also founded the Mongrel Club dedicated to promoting Mongrels, the mixed breed dogs which had once been much prejudiced by the local community.

Witnessing the growing degree of inclusiveness towards pets, Rebecca looks forward to seeing a more pet-friendly Hong Kong with policies supporting pets and their owners being formulated in years to come.
