Joint Seminar by SID, SKL and ECE Department - Introduction to Light Extraction Techniques of Organic Light Emitting Diodes by Scattering Effects

11:00am - 12:00pm
Classroom 3598 (via Lifts 27/28)

In this presentation, we will discuss the light extraction techniques of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) with light scattering effects. In OLEDs, to increase the luminance of device, the outcoupling efficiency is one of the key issues to solve. Especially, recently announced META technology with WOLED gives some promising solutions for the better bright panel. Here, we are going to briefly introduce the light extraction method based on scattering effect with various optical materials such as liquid crystals. We believe that these approaches can play a critical role in the future roll-to-roll flexible OLEDs.

Professor Yoonseuk Choi received his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Seoul National University under the guidance of Professor Sin-Doo Lee. In 2008, he worked as a postdoc in Professor Charles Rosenblatt's laboratory at CWRU, USA, and has been working as a professor at Hanbat National University since 2010. His research interests include optical devices and display applications using electro-optical materials including liquid crystals, and he is also conducting research on display backplanes such as TFT devices and sensor devices. He has served as a director of the Korean Information Display Society since 2015, and is an organizing committee member of IMID from 2022. In this year’s IMID 2024 which will be held at Jeju Island, he is the General Secretary of conference solely.
