Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) leverage advanced technologies to enhance traffic management, improve safety, and increase efficiency in modern transportation networks. Most recently, by integrating different types of UAVs/Drones, the evolving low-altitude ITS expand into aerial dimensions, enabling more air-ground collaborative applications. However, with wide-area and massive intelligent devices involved in low-altitude ITS, there raises increasing communication and computing demands. In this talk, I will mainly share our recent research on two topics, that is, UAV-enabled vehicular networking and UAV-integrated vehicular fog computing. Considering the deployment flexibility and the high channel quality of A2G links, UAV-enabled vehicular networking can effectively enhance the vehicular connectivity and improve the network throughput of vehicular data transmissions. Taking the vehicles as fog nodes, vehicular fog computing is a promising solution to reduce the computation latency of time-sensitive tasks. And the integration of UAVs can further bring more benefits in vehicular fog computing, where UAVs can behave as local coordinators, aerial task relays, and flexible fog nodes. Moreover, I will briefly touch upon some emerging and interesting topics on low-altitude ITS.
