Abstract:
In recent years, fields associated to maritime power of the state are booming, including ocean development, ocean energy, marine transportation infrastructure and channel tunnel construction, and disaster prevention in coastal cities. Ocean engineering is the infrastructure of ocean development and an important part of a maritime power. The research of ocean engineering relies on the ocean dynamics laboratory which can accurately simulate the ocean environment. Therefore, Prof. Quanke SU of The Institute for Cross-sea Engineering and Integrated Transportation (ICE-IT) organized a team of eight experts to jointly conduct research. Our team has visited and investigated several top ocean dynamics laboratories in China, e.g., the world’s largest Large-scale Wave Flume, the National Facility for Earthquake Engineering Simulation under construction, the largest Wind-wave-current Water Tank system under construction in China, and the Submerged Floating Tunnel Basin which has carried out the world’s first overall physical model test of the submerged floating tunnel, et al.. The sharing meeting will be introduced specifically by Mr. Zhuowei ZHOU, a member of the expert group.
BIOGRAPHY
Zhuowei ZHOU is a PHD candidate of Dalian University of Technology. He holds an M. Eng from Dalian University of Technology and a B. Eng from Tsinghua University. His research interests include the interaction between waves and offshore structures and the nonlinear evolution of ocean gravity waves. The current research focuses on nonlinear waves and oceanic rogue waves. The research results have been published in OMAE, a top international conference in the field of ocean engineering, and have been included in the corresponding journal. Zhuowei Zhou has been engaged in physical model test research related to ocean engineering for many years, and has a wide understanding of the field about the ocean dynamic laboratory.
