The Hong Kong Life Sciences Society has two forthcoming programs: Life Sciences Summer Internship Program 2026 and Mentorship Scheme 2026/27.
Life Sciences Summer Internship Program 2026
As new knowledge and technologies constantly transform the landscape of life sciences and its many sectors, HKLSS offers a unique life sciences/biotech internship opportunity to empower emerging biotech talent. Interns will have the chance to explore cutting-edge research, latest technology, and the future of life sciences and biotechnology.
Selected interns will be assigned to our partners or portfolio companies in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen, including start-ups, venture capitals, NGOs, healthcare, and bio-pharmaceutical companies. They will also engage with sector specialists through company visits, and workshops, exploring different career options in biotechnology and life sciences.
Interns will
- Acquire practical skills that are applicable in the workplace
- Work with translational researchers and biotech professionals
- Expose to one of the following sectors: R&D, business or product development, investment, marketing communication, program or project management
- Participate in the HKLSS-core program, including lab visits, study tours, conversations with C-suite executives, and networking activities
- Be given priority in enrolling in our Mentorship Scheme
Eligibility
- Senior-year undergraduate and postgraduate students, aged 18 or above, with an academic qualification in life sciences, biomedical sciences, medicine, data science or business (with a science or tech focus)
- MRes, MPhil or PhD students will be prioritized for R&D positions
- Recent graduates and applicants with other relevant background will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Mentorship Scheme 2026/27
Are you eager to gain first-hand, valuable insights through one-on-one meetings? If yes, this Scheme is for you!
Mentorship Scheme is designed to cultivate young students in the life sciences, biomedical sciences and biotechnology disciplines, equipping them with workplace knowledge, soft skills, and the ability to network and build meaningful connections.
Guided by industry experts, entrepreneurs, and senior executives from a wide range of professions in life sciences and biotechnology industries, mentees will be able to learn, grow, and identify their directions. HKLSS also invites senior executives with a background from other disciplines as mentors to nurture young talents from a different perspective.
This 7th cohort of the Mentorship Scheme will commence in March 2026 and is currently accepting applications.
All mentors specialize in the following sectors:

• Research and development
• Science communication
Mentees will be able to
- Identify and develop academic and career opportunities
- Stay up-to-date with the most current trends in information and technology
- Expand personal and professional networks
- Learn about biotech developments in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland
Eligibility
- Students in engineering, healthcare, medicine, sciences, and technology from first-year through postgraduate levels
- Freshmen and college students are also welcome to apply
Young Mentors Scheme
The Young Mentors Scheme pairs freshmen and college students with our alumni who are aged 35 and below. These young mentors are adept at understanding their mentees’ concerns from a peer’s perspective and offering helpful insights about possible solutions and career options.
HKLSS' objective is to encourage conversation, co-learning and well-being while simultaneously creating space for them to explore innovative and collaborative ways of solving issues they have been facing.
Applicants who are freshmen or college students will automatically be considered for the Young Mentor Scheme.
