Unleashing the Power of Web3 for FinTech: Decentralizing Finance to Empower Individuals and Drive Innovation
Abstract:
Web3 is a term used to describe the next generation of the internet, where decentralization, peer-to-peer interaction, and user control are at the forefront. It's a vision of a more open and transparent internet, where users have ownership and control of their data and interactions, and where trust is established through cryptography and consensus algorithms. Web3 technology is enabling new forms of decentralized finance, where individuals have greater access to financial services and can participate in economic systems without relying on traditional financial intermediaries. Web3 is set to revolutionize many industries and is already shaping the future of finance, gaming, and social media.
This seminar will present an in-depth exploration of Web3 technology for FinTech and digital assets, the future in Web3, and the exciting world of DeFi and NFTs. We will highlight key players in the Web3 ecosystem (Uniswap, Compound, and Aave) and how they revolutionize finance. Besides the exciting side, there’s also the worrying side: the Luna/UST and FTX/Genesis crashes last year and recent SVB/Signature crisis, but note they are centralized companies. Therefore, understanding the major pros and cons of centralized and decentralized finance structure will be helpful in identifying opportunities and risks in Web3 and FinTech. Join us to learn more about the potential of Web3 technology to revolutionize the world of finance.
