Abstract
Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as highly promising materials in environmental and energy applications due to their high surface area, tunable pore sizes, and crystalline structures. This lecture focuses on the recent applications of MOFs in the context of green energy and carbon neutrality. First, we will discuss the design and synthesis of MOFs optimized for efficient carbon capture (CO2 separation and storage) from industrial waste streams. Second, we will explore their potential in green energy storage, specifically focusing on hydrogen (H2
) storage capacities and mechanisms. Finally, the lecture will address the current challenges of MOFs, such as water stability and scalability, and provide an outlook on their future role in achieving a sustainable, net-zero carbon economy.
