APRU Open Dialogues 6th Cohort

This workshop invites students to begin exploring themes of mental health, cultural differences, and the implications of AI in student life through open dialogue and reflection. Designed as an introductory exchange, the session encourages participants to share personal insights, listen to diverse perspectives, and consider cultural anchors such as family, community, spirituality, silence, and storytelling in shaping student experiences. The conversation will also examine attitudes toward AI across cultures and invite creative thinking about more inclusive and culturally sensitive approaches. By participating, students will gain an initial, culturally informed perspective on these themes, strengthening awareness, encouraging inclusive practices, and contributing to broader skills for collaboration in global and remote contexts.

Program characteristics:

• Tecnológico de Monterrey will organize and lead this virtual workshop, with support from APRU. 
• The target group will be undergraduate students from all disciplines.
• The program will provide innovative international educational experiences for the APRU student community through educational and digital tools.
• The program aims to provide a broader view of the common challenges in the Pacific Rim, increasing students’ understanding of shared needs, perspectives, and cultures.

Expected outcomes:

• Cultural Competence: Learn to navigate cultural differences effectively and recognize how different cultures understand mental health.
• Problem-Solving: Address real-world challenges by working through misunderstandings that lead to cultural assumptions.
• Leadership & Empathy: Develop leadership skills that promote inclusivity and sensitivity in diverse teams.
