Look no further! SENG is organizing an Internship Experience Sharing Competition and we want YOU to join! Tell us about your internship experience and inspire your peers to take on similar opportunities.

To promote internship-taking to your peers in SENG and to enable prospective students to understand the job prospect of engineering students, we are organizing this competition to collect your videos, photos and quotes from those of you who have taken up an internship during your time at HKUST.
- Entry Period: 25 Jan 2024 (Thu) – 22 Feb 2024 (Thu)
- Eligibility: All UG SENG* students (including DDP)
- Awards & Prizes:
5 Best Sharing Awards
HK$5,000 each
10 Best Video Awards
HK$2,500 each
10 Best Photo Awards
HK$1,500 each
Prizes for each “Qualified Submission”
Each “Qualified Submission” must include:
- 1 Quote in English and
- 1 Factual Description in English and
- At least 2 Photos (1 formal & 1 informal) with photo captions in English or 1 Video with subtitles in English
HK$600 for each qualified submission
- Submission:
- Participants should submit their entry on the submission link on or before 22 Feb 2024 (Thu). Late submission will not be considered.
- To compete for the Best Photo Awards, an entry must be a “Qualified Submission” with at least 2 Photos (1 formal & 1 informal) with photo captions in English
- To compete for the Best Video Awards, an entry must be a “Qualified Submission” with at least 1 video with subtitles in English
- To compete for the Best Sharing Awards, an entry must be a “Qualified Submission” in which the quote and photos or video(s) must include elements promoting internship-taking to your peers
- To win the prize for “Qualified Submission”, an entry must include the following:
- 1 Quote in English and
- 1 Factual Description in English and
- At least 2 Photos (1 formal & 1 informal) with photo captions in English or 1 Video with subtitles in English

If you submit at least 1 Video AND at least 2 Photos (1 formal & 1 informal), you will get HK$600 x 2 = HK$1,200 in total.
- You can submit as many photos and videos as you like but photos and videos of the same internship can only be submitted in 1 entry.
- Requirements:
- All participants must ensure that their entries meet the competition’s requirements as stated in this section.
- Each entry MUST include the following 3 elements:
A) You at work
(formal)
Show a visual representation (photo/video) of you at work. It can be taken in an office or other working locations. It can be a posed or candid shot. If you choose to submit 2 Photos (1 formal & 1 informal), this is what the formal photo should show.
For example,
- You standing in front of the company’s logo (in uniform/professional attire) looking smart
- You working with systems/machinery, at your desk or giving a presentation etc.
- You working on-site
B) You having fun

Show a visual representation (photo/video) of you enjoying yourself during the internship. It can be happy moments during company’s welcoming /ice-breaking sessions/ team lunch/ gatherings / after-work activities etc. If you choose to submit 2 Photos (1 formal & 1 informal), this is what the informal photo should show.
C) Message to your peers promoting Internship-taking
Your quote/photo/video should include a message encouraging your peers to obtain an internship experience.
You may try to answer the following questions:
- How have you benefited from the internship experience?
- What knowledge and skill have you acquired during your internship?
- What impact did this internship experience have on your personal development?
- How did this internship experience affect your future career plan?
- What motivated you to do an internship in the first place?
- Why do you think a university student should take up an Internship?
- Format:
- Photo must in JPEG or JPG format and at least 1MB in size/ 300 dpi in resolution (the higher the better)
- Video must be in MP4 format and minimum 1.5 minutes
- Genre of video could be short film, slideshow or vlog
- Must contain photo captions or video subtitles in English (please proofread your writing before submitting your entry)
- Please save your entries in the following format:
Student ID_Full Name_Nickname_Submitting materials
(e.g. 12345678_CHAN Tai Man_Peter_Photo 1)
- Internship Period: No restrictions
- If colleagues/other people are present in your photo(s) or video(s), you need not blur their faces but please ensure that you have got their permission before submitting the photo(s) or video(s) to the competition. Please note that by submitting materials to this competition, you grant HKUST the non-exclusive right to modify and/or reproduce the submitted materials for any purpose at any time in any media with attribution. You consent to the use of submitted materials and your personal data including name and English name (if any) in any publicity carried out by HKUST, without further compensation.
- Entries submitted to SENG Internship Experience Sharing Competition 2022 and 2023 will not be accepted and considered for this competition
Note
- In case of disputes, SENG reserves at all times the absolute right of final decision, including determining whether an entry has met the various requirements and criteria set out and terminating details of the requirement and its terms and conditions without prior notice
- *SENG students refer to students with their 1st major offered by SENG.
- Award and prize recipients except for individuals who are on study leave or exchange are required to physically attend a face-to-face Award Presentation Ceremony on 10 Apr 2024 (Wed).
