Symposium on Carbon Monitoring in Space Era - Global Insights into CO2 Fluctuations from Satellite Observations

9:00am - 12:00pm
The HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study, IAS Lecture Hall

Global Insights into CO2 Fluctuations from Satellite Observations

In our urgent quest to prevent detrimental climate change, it is essential to achieve carbon neutrality and limit global temperature rise below 2C.  To comprehensively understand and measure global gas patterns and emissions, modern satellite technologies offer unparalleled insights of global greenhouse gases concentrations and their movements.  Understanding the sources, sinks and redistribution routes of greenhouses gases can better guide Hong Kong’s transition to a carbon-neutral, climate-adaptive and disaster-adaptive and disaster-resilient society.  This symposium will foster knowledge exchange and collaborations among world-class experts in carbon related studies, and advance the satellite technology development for carbon monitoring in Hong Kong and beyond.
