Workshop Details:

1. Bamboo Weaving Painting Workshop: Crafting Traditional Bamboo Fan

Date: Aug 4, 2025 (Mon)
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Venue: Room 209, 2/F, Shaw Auditorium
Introduction: Bamboo weaving is one of the intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong. In this workshop, Ms. Cindy Tai, founder of WELL WELL WELL (井井有條), will teach participants to create a bamboo fan using traditional weaving techniques.

2. Chinese Seal Carving: A Hands-On Seal Carving Experience

Date: Aug 5, 2025 (Tue)
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Venue: Room 209, 2/F, Shaw Auditorium
Introduction: Chinese seal carving is a revered traditional craft with a history spanning over 3,000 years. In this workshop, Mr. William Ho, an experienced instructor who specializes in calligraphy and seal engraving, will share the history of seal carving, and introduce the intricate techniques involved in creating a unique seal.

3. The Art of Chinese Shadow Puppetry: Create Your Own Shadow Puppet

Date: Aug 6, 2025 (Wed)
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Venue: Room 209, 2/F, Shaw Auditorium
Introduction: Chinese shadow puppetry (皮影戲) is a captivating theatrical art form where puppeteers manipulate shadow puppets using rods behind a translucent screen. In this workshop, participants will explore the history of shadow puppetry and create their own puppets.

4. Blue and White Porcelain: Design Your Mini Blue and White Masterpiece

Date: Aug 8, 2025 (Fri)
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Venue: Room 209, 2/F, Shaw Auditorium
Introduction: Blue-and-White porcelain (青花瓷) is one of China's most iconic porcelain types. In this workshop, participants will learn about the history of Blue-and-White Porcelain and create their own mini piece.


REMARKS

  • Recommended for ages 16 and above.
  • Participants are required to submit a refundable deposit of HKD 200 for each workshop (cash only), which will be returned upon successful completion of workshop. If the participant cannot attend the workshop, the deposit will be forfeited and used to offset the workshop operation expense.
  • Interested participants are required to enroll online and complete the deposit payment by visiting Room 203, Shaw Auditorium during 09:30am - 12:45pm or 2:00pm - 5:00pm (Monday to Friday) before Aug 1, 2025 in order to secure their spots.
  • Quota is limited, if the deposit is not received by Aug 1, 2025, your spot will be released to applicants on the waiting list.
  • Please present your Student Card / Staff Card / Alumni e-card / Resident Card for identity verification when attending the workshop.
  • The Shaw Auditorium Unit reserves the right in its sole discretion to make changes to the event program without prior notice.
