More Information

We are here from REMAKE to provide solution for your technical problems. Instead of throwing your devices away or abandoning them inside your drawers, you can bring them to our Repair Parties, and we can work together to get them fixed ASAP!

You get to use your devices again while contributing positively to the environment; it is definitely a win-win situation.

About Us

REMAKE is a free community-based repair project initiated by HKUST students aimed at promoting sustainability by fixing broken electronic devices and we are fully supported by the HKUST Sustainability/Net-Zero Office. Thus far, we have successfully completed 20 repair parties and volunteered more than 280 hours; almost 200 people have had their devices fixed. We thrive on skill-sharing and collaborative learning to fix technology and our relationship with it!

About the Repair Party

The Repair Party—a bi-weekly event organized by The REMAKE Team—welcomes everyone to learn how to fix their broken devices with our technicians. There will not be any charges incurred for registering to the event. You will get to work together with our technician to fix your own devices and gain fundamental knowledge of how the devices you use every day works.

The event details will be as follows:

Date                : March 12, March 19, April 9, Apr 23 (the following dates are on Sunday of 2023)
Venue              : ISD Studio (Room 2590, Lifts 29-30)
Time                : 10:00 - 12:00 (morning), 13:00 - 15:00 (afternoon)

Make sure to read the following before registering!

There will be two sessions on each day—morning and afternoon. When you register for your preferred date, you will need to pick which session you would like to join; please choose accordingly as each session will have their own quotas. Successful registrants will be notified via email and reminded 2 (two) days before the event. If you would like to cancel or amend your registration, we request for your kind cooperation to notify us by email immediately, at least 24 (twenty-four) hours before the event so that we could release the timeslot to other interested participants.

In the case that you do not receive any confirmation emails 2 (two) days before the event, it indicates that you are being put on a waiting list and we would inform you immediately if others cancel their registrations. We might also offer you for another upcoming schedule if there are any spots available. Prioritization of the registration will be given in a first-come-first-served basis; hence you are highly encouraged to register immediately.

Notice for unregistered participants (walk-ins)

If you have NOT registered for the event but would like to have our help to get your devices fixed immediately, we would still welcome you to join our Repair Party on the aforementioned dates. However, please note that the following case will only be possible if all of our technicians are not helping other participants.

We would like to apologize in advance if we could not assist walk-ins when all of our members are busy. As a side note, you are recommended to try to register for other upcoming dates and see if you could get your spot confirmed!

Should you have any inquiries or concerns regarding the event logistics or registration, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at remake@ust.hk. We will get back to you immediately and we hoped that you will enjoy the whole event and can get your devices repaired. We look forward to seeing you in the upcoming parties.
