Labour Force Dynamics at the Greater Bay Area  - HKUST IEMS-EY Emerging Markets Insights Series

4:30pm - 6:00pm
EY Hong Kong Office

The Greater Bay Area (GBA) presents significant opportunities for businesses for social and economic development. To make the most of these opportunities, business leaders and policymakers need to understand the dynamics of the labour market in the region, including the factors that influence labour migration, the sectors in which labour migrants work, and the challenges they face.

The Labour Migration at the GBA is a research project in 2021 that aims to understand the mechanism of labour migration and the distribution of human capital among GBA cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Hong Kong.  The project will generate key indicators on employment, migration, and family in these four surveyed cities.

In this event, Prof Stuart Gietel-Basten (HKUST), lead of the project, and Jeff Tang, expert in human capital at EY, will share their insights into the region's labour market dynamics, which will be crucial to the region's social and economic development in the coming decades.

Jasmine Lee, Managing Partner of EY Hong Kong & Macau, and Prof Kar Yan Tam, Acting Director of IEMS, Dean of HKUST Business School will give welcome addresses at the event.
