Sports Science and Research Funding Scheme (SSRFS)

Following the excellent results of the Hong Kong, China Delegation at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (HKJCCT) have agreed to inject funding to launch a HK$300 million Sports Science and Research Funding Scheme (SSRFS), aiming to enhance the competitiveness of athletes and help them better prepare for major international sports events in coming few years. 

 

The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) is the only eligible applicant to submit applications under the SSRFS for funding approval, and now inviting research and academic entities to collaborate with them on sports science and technology research projects under the Scheme. Proposals should fall under one of the following categories:

  1. Commissioning of science and research projects on areas including sports science and sports medicine;
  2. Purchase of equipment and software applications on scientific research related to strength and conditioning, sports science and sports medicine; or 
  3. Further improvements to athletes’ gear, etc. 

 

Funding Limit

No funding ceiling

 

Application Procedures

1.     All prospective Project Lead (Principal Investigator) should first contact the SSRFS Secretariat for collaborative discussion to ensure the proposed project is of relevance to specific elite sport needs under the Scheme. Submissions which do not result from collaborative discussion with the HKSI will not be accepted. 

2.     The Project Lead, after the collaborative discussion, should send the completed application form to RO (roissac@ust.hk) for review before submitting to the SSRFS Secretariat.
