Join us for HKUST Ocean Day 2026, a one-day celebration dedicated to raising awareness about our oceans and promoting marine conservation! This exciting event will take place on February 2, 2026from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Academic Concourse (Outside LT-J). This year, we are also delighted to welcome Research Vessel SHEN KUO visiting Hong Kong, and you will have the special opportunity to register for a guided tour aboard the vessel!

Event Highlights:

•    AR-enabled Learning Cards distribution: Explore marine biodiversity in an interactive way through our marine AR-enabled Learning Cards, which bring ocean species and habitats to life!
•    Coral Bones Showcase: Discover the intricate structures of coral skeletons at our booth to learn how these delicate frameworks support vibrant marine ecosystems
•    Guided tour of the Research Vessel (RV) SHEN KUO on 5 Feb (Thu) and 7 Feb (Sat) (Pre-registration required; LINK HERE)

More about the Research Vessel (RV): 


SHEN KUO Research Vessel, designed by China Ship Scientific Research Center, built and operated by The Ocean Technology Group, is a 2200-ton small-waterline surface catamaran research vessel built by private enterprises. Featuring two bows, with an orange-red front bow, a primarily white hull and its lower part adorned with red wave patterns, the vessel has been carrying out oceanic research missions and visiting the world’s deepest trench, the Mariana Trench since 2018.
