Guiding Voice 1-on-1 Tutorial 「友」聲有識一對一補習計劃
Imagine a world where every student has the opportunity to excel, regardless of their visual abilities. Visually impaired students face accessibility barriers, limited educational resources, technology limitations, social isolation, and a lack of individualized support. But with your help, we can make a difference.
One-on-one tutorial is not just about teaching; it is about creating a bond that can change lives. By offering your time and support to visually impaired students, you have the chance to be a beacon of hope and empowerment in their lives.
This programme is organized by Hong Kong Blind Union, which aims to enhance the learning skills and confidence of visually impaired students through one-on-one after-school support services.
Details of the programme are as follows:
Service Target
Visually impaired students currently enrolled in primary, secondary, or tertiary education
Matching Method
Tutors will be matched based on students' gender, residential area, and the subjects they need assistance with
Service Period
March to August 2025
Service Hours
Total 16 sessions, 1 hour per session (Adjustments can be made based on actual circumstances)
Tutor Remuneration
$35 per hour
Tutorial Locations (Choose one)
Jockey Club Vocational and Educational Resource Centre, Hong Kong Blind Union (Kwun Tong)
Student's residence
Other locations (e.g. quiet shops in shopping malls, coffee shops)
Requirement
Fluent in Cantonese
Attend briefing session on 22 Mar 2025 (Sat)
About the NGO
Hong Kong Blind Union is the first self-help NGO organized and managed by a group of visually impaired persons (VIPs). The group aims to promote the spirit of self-help and mutual-help as well as striving for equality, opportunities, and independence for VIPs.

Remarks:
- Priority will be given to HKUST Connect registrants (Kick start your changemaking journey with HKUST Connect: https://connect.ust.hk/get-involved/register-with-hkust-connect/register)
- The actual service date, time, and location will be subject to the matched service recipient. Successfully matched applicants will receive confirmation from the Hong Kong Blind Union after the briefing session.
- [HMAW1905] This is a recognized event in the "Self-directed Experience" component of HMAW1905: Behavioral Foundations of University Education: Habits, Mindsets, and Wellness. Only sessions completed by 10 May will be counted, and they will be subject to confirmation by the partner association.
- [Award for Social Good] Please note that only sessions completed by 15 April will be counted for the Award for Social Good, and they will be subject to confirmation by the partner association.
- Upon completion of the service, the actual service hours will be subject to confirmation by the partner association.
