Guest Seminar - Career Development: A Basic Engineer Finds Satisfaction Amidst the Chaos and Anxiety of Her Career Path

3:00pm - 4:00pm
Lecture Theater H (Lifts 27-28)

Navigating career paths can be anxiety inducing and chaotic. In today's world, we have more information, more opportunities, and more wealth, but the challenges of building a satisfying career seem even greater than before. While I cannot promise a solution to all your questions, I can offer my experiences: How did I transition from an anxious engineer who didn't know what I wanted, to someone who still doesn't know what the 'right move' is but has job satisfaction, and can set up manageable career goals? Hint: the answer for me was not "find your passion". In my search for the "right career", I have tried management consulting, self-employment as a wedding planner; I've explored patent law, been a research scientist at a startup, and a startup co-founder; now I am here. I look forward to sharing my journey with you, and discussing any questions you might have for me.
