GSCI Friday Seminar Series - Location Sensing Technologies and Applications

Location sensing has great commercial value.  In this seminar, I will present the novel technologies we have been researching and developing to know or sense one's location.  The technologies have been successfully trialed and deployed in various settings and scenarios to enable various applications.  I will share our experience and, in particular, present how we apply these technologies for dementia anti-wandering for aging society.

Dr. S.-H. Gary Chan
Professor / HKUST

Dr. S.-H. Gary Chan is currently Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, HKUST.  He received MSE and PhD degrees from Stanford University, and B.S.E. degree (highest honor) from Princeton University, all in Electrical Engineering.  His research interest includes smart sensing and IoT, video/user/data analytics, and IT entrepreneurship.  Due to their innovations and commercial impacts, Prof. Chan's research projects have received local and international accolades (2012-2020).  He is the recipient of Hong Kong Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service for "outstanding contribution to the fight against COVID-19" in 2020.
