Fundamental Physics Seminar Series - Homological Method in Topological/ Holomorphic QFT

2:00pm - 3:00pm
IAS4042, 4/F, Lo Ka Chung Building, Lee Shau Kee Campus, HKUST

Abstract

In this talk, the speaker will discuss basic ideas and various recent mathematical developments about quantization that arises from topologically/ holomorphically twisted quantum field theory. He will illustrate some applications in topological/ chiral index and twisted gauge/gravity duality.

About the Speaker

Prof. LI Si is a professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Tsinghua University. He received his bachelor's degrees from the University of Science and Technology of China, and earned his PhD in mathematics from Harvard University in 2011. Prof. Li works on mathematical physics, especially on the interplay between quantum field theory and geometry/ topology. He received the Gold Medal Award of Morningside Medal of Mathematics in 2016 based on his works on construction of the quantum theory of B-twisted open-closed string field theory as well as the solution to the “Landau-Ginzburg Mirror Symmetry Conjecture” on quantum singularity theories.
