Civil Engineering Departmental Seminar - What makes A 4* paper for RAE submission?
What makes A 4* paper for RAE submission?
Prof. Kirill HOROSHENKOV was a Panel Member for Hong Kong RAE2020 and has rich experiences in research assessment exercises. In this lunch seminar, he will talk on the key topic “What Makes A 4* Paper for RAE Submission?”, which will help our colleagues to pick four representative papers. Other RAE related topics such as impact cases may also be discussed.
Lunch boxes will be served at 12:00 noon and the seminar will start at 12:30 pm.
Kirill Horoshenkov is a Professor of Acoustics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield, UK. His expertise is in acoustic materials and sensing. He leads the UK Acoustics Network+ with over 1700 members and Programme Grant to develop new methods of pervasive sensing for buried pipes. This work is sponsored by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK Institute of Acoustics and Acoustical Society of America (ASA). He is a Panel Member of Hong Kong Research Grants Council. He was a Panel Member for Hong Kong RAE2020. He is author/co-author of over 200 papers and 10 patents. He was awarded the Tyndall Medal by the Institute of Acoustics in 2006 for his contribution to acoustics and Harold Jan Schoemaker Prize in fluid mechanics in 2018 by the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research. He is a founder of two spin-off companies to explore commercially the results of his research.
