The Sustainable Development Fund ("SDF") was established by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2003 to provide financial support for projects that can help develop a strong public awareness of the concept of sustainable development and encourage sustainable practices. It established with a sum of $100 million to provide a source of financial support and is now inviting its fourteenth round of applications.
- projects that aim to actively promote a low-carbon lifestyle to the general public, with a view to instigating behavioural changes
- publicity and education programmes for households, small and medium enterprises and youth in the community for inducing behavioural changes in aspects of low-carbon living particularly focusing on energy saving and waste reduction and recycling
Notwithstanding the above priority areas, applications that are generally consistent with the overall objectives of SDF would also be welcome.
Organisations including non-governmental and community organisations, academic and research institutes, schools, chambers of commerce, etc. may apply for grant under the SDF.
