The HKUST-Kaisa Joint Research Institute (HKJRI), 香港科技大学-佳兆业联合研究院,was established in Nov 2019 to develop technology and knowledge to be commercialized to practical applications and products via platforms of Kaisa Holdings Limited (Kaisa). The funding size per project will be up to 3.5 million HKD (net amount), and project duration will be up to 2 years. It is anticipated to launch a total project fund of HK$15M in priority technology areas listed below:

1. Materials 新材料



  • New Materials for Construction and Energy Saving建筑节能新材料

  • New Materials for Acoustic Absorption/ Noise Reduction隔音新材料

  • New Materials for Solar Energy太阳能光伏新材料

  • New Materials for Environmental and Sustainability环保新材料

  • New Materials for Air Purification 空气净化新材料


2. IOT (AI) 物联网(人工智能)



  • Image Recognition Technology, Equipment, & Mgmt System 图像识别技术、设备及管理系统

  • Voice Recognition and Message Recognition Technology, Equipment, & Mgmt System语音语义识别技术、设备及管理系统

  • Biometric Identification Technology, Equipment & Management System 生物特征识别技术、设备及管理系统

  • Intelligent Security Equipment & Management System智能安防设备及管理系统

  • Intelligent Construction Equipment & Management System 建筑智能化设备及管理系统

  • Smart Home Equipment & Management System 家庭智能化设备及管理系统

  • Smart Community Equipment & Management System 社区智能化设备及管理系统

  • Smart Campus/ Industrial Park / Science Park Equipment & Management System 智慧园区设备及管理系统


HKJRI will work closely with Kaisa to facilitate the technology transfer process, including the formation of spin-off start-up companies, with strong supports from both TTC/OKT and Kaisa’s incubation hubs mainly in Shenzhen, China.
