To further enhance understanding, the speaker will showcase both exemplary and cautionary examples of data visualizations, illustrating a clear contrast between effective and ineffective practices. The speaker will also share fundamental design principles that the attendees can utilize to craft their own compelling visual narratives, ensuring that the key message is not only accentuated but also effectively conveyed to the intended audience.

This is the 3rd session of a 5-part webinar series featuring leading academic and industry experts in risk management, artificial intelligence, information systems, big data analytics, machine learning, and large-scale data processing. Students interested in the CBSA-Wisers Analytics Challenge @HKUST 2023/24 are highly encouraged to attend the webinars.
Professor Wang holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and serves as the UG Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Business Intelligence (RMBI) program at HKUST. She has been heavily involved in various custom executive education programs for some regional and global banks in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, as well as the Hong Kong SAR Government. She has collaborated with Microsoft and designed the first AI-centric MBA elective in Hong Kong. This course forms part of Microsoft’s Global AI Business School initiative, providing MBA students with the latest thinking and practices on business transformation with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Professor Wang’s current teaching and research interests center on interdisciplinary education and research, particularly on how to adopt advanced technologies like data science and AI in the business setting. Her work strives to bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution, enabling a more integrated approach to innovation. In addition to her academic pursuits, Professor Wang has recently co-founded a startup company that offers AI-powered dentistry solutions.
