The 2026 Huawei Hackathon Software Challenge is organized by Huawei’s 2012 Laboratories, this challenge brings together talented university students, researchers, and software enthusiasts to address real-world technical challenges in business software. It offers participants an excellent opportunity to explore emerging technologies, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to the future of software innovation. Through the competition, students can demonstrate their creativity, strengthen their practical programming and problem-solving capabilities, and engage with world-class technical experts and industry challenges.

Competition at a Glance

  • Eligibility: Current university students. Participants must register and compete in teams of three.
  • Registration Requirements: Participants must complete individual registration and team formation within the designated registration period, in accordance with the competition rules. Valid participants are also required to attend the preliminary online programming session as scheduled.
  • Preliminary Round: A three-hour online programming competition. Programming languages are not restricted; however, the use of AI-assisted coding tools is prohibited. The round will assess participants’ programming proficiency, algorithmic thinking, and ability to solve software-related problems.
  • Final Round: An on-site competition at Songshan Lake, where finalist teams will address business software technology challenges. Evaluation will focus on the originality of the proposed solution, technical innovation, and implementation capability. 

 

Tentative Schedule

  • Preliminary Round: Early September 2026
  • Finalist Announcement: Mid-September 2026
  • Final Round Problem Release: Late September 2026
  • Final Round: Late October 2026
  • Award Ceremony: Late October 2026 

 

Awards Highlights: 30,000/20,000/10,000 RMB (First/Second/Third Prize)

 

In addition, winners of the Hackathon Software Challenge will also receive:

  • Community Honor: Team members who make it to the finals and participate in solving community challenges will receive exquisite gifts from the community. Teams that make it to the finals and win awards will have the opportunity for a community interview.
  • Priority Internal Recommendation: Team members who make it to the finals will have the opportunity for priority internal recommendations for Huawei internships and job applications
  • Face-to-Face with Experts: Each final team will be assigned a senior business mentor and will have the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with Huawei Fellows, Chief Scientists, and software experts.
  • Visit Songshan Lake Town: Advancing to the finals will unlock a 3-day experience tour in the Songshan Lake European Town (travel and competition-related expenses will be covered by the organizers).
