The objective of The China Economics Summer Institute (CESI) is to create a network and community of top level scholars working on Chinese economic development. This year's CESI will be hosted by HKUST Center for Economic Policy and HKUST Department of Economics.

The workshop intends to bring together scholars working on China across different parts of the world and build supportive mentoring networks for junior scholars. This year, the review committee has selected 12 papers in the area of political economy, trade/ macroeconomics and labor/development. A PhD student session is arranged to encourage the young Ph.D students to work on topics related to the Chinese economy.
