This presentation will draw on Professor Sengupta’s research in the field of consumer psychology to illuminate ways in which we can influence and persuade others. The talk will focus on a particular technique for doing so in a sales context: that of flattery. Leveraging two of his published articles in this field, Professor Sengupta will discuss how the appropriate use of salesperson flattery can influence not only the flattered consumer, but other consumers who happen to be observing the interaction.
