Mr. Abraham Kok is a former Hong Kong elite triathlete who grew up with Specific Learning Difficulties and Attention Deficit. Through sports, he learned to overcome the challenges he faced and gradually built confidence and direction in life.

After retiring from competition, he co‑founded the Hong Kong Special Needs Sports Institute, developing sports programmes and coaching training that help SEN students improve focus, coordination, and self‑belief.

In this talk, Abraham will share how he transformed his own SEN challenges into strengths, and how sport‑based approaches can support SEN students in unlocking their potential and shaping a more inclusive learning environment.

After retiring as an elite athlete for the Hong Kong team, Mr Abraham Kok co-founded a social enterprise focusing on SEN students, named the Hong Kong Special Needs Sports Institute. Considering the lack of recognized sports teaching programs and interventions for individuals with special needs, the institute launched the first certified Sport Coach program accredited by QFUK in Hong Kong. The program facilitates the sport coaches to design appropriate and individualized exercise training based on the specific needs of SEN students to enhance their physical functioning and improve their abilities in concentration and social interaction. The institute also aims to enrich the knowledge and skills of the school sport coaches to help identify SEN students and provide appropriate sport intervention in schools in order to achieve the inclusive education approach promoted in Hong Kong, and encourage the SEN students to develop their potential.
