ECE Seminar - Lossless and Lossy Joint Source-Channel Polar Coding

2:00pm - 3:30pm
Room 2517 (lift 25/26), Academic Bldg.

Abstract: Polar codes, the first family of channel codes that can provably achieve channel capacity, is one of the most prominent breakthroughs in coding theory over the past two decades. In recent years, improved polar codes are also shown to approach the finite-length bound of the AWGN channel at short block-lengths. It is known that joint source-channel coding (JSCC) is strictly better that separate source-channel coding at finite block-lengths. In this talk, the presenter will share his research on the design joint source-channel polar codes that can approach the finite-length bounds of JSCC over the AWGN channel, demonstrating polar codes’ potential for future wireless systems.
