Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering - A Passive-Intensive Bluetooth LE Receiver Front-End

2:15pm - 3:15pm

This talk presents the design of a Bluetooth LE receiver front-end using no transconductor (gm), enabling high linearity and ultra-low-power consumption. Also, with our proposed passive-gain-boosted N-path technique, high in-band and out-of-band linearities are concurrently achieved with a reasonable NF. The  high RF-to-baseband gain (>30dB) suppresses the noise effect of the subsequent circuitry, yielding an outstanding SFDR of 77dB at a sub-300µW power budget. This example paces the way to build a greener world of energy-autonomous wireless radios for the Internet-of-Everything (IoE) era.
