How can technology start-ups strategically protect their intellectual property (IP) and harness patent information to support innovation and business growth? This seminar explores key IP considerations at different stages of a start-up’s innovation journey, from idea generation and technology development to commercialization planning. Participants will learn how patent information can serve as a valuable source of technical, competitive, and business-relevant insights, gain a practical understanding of patent searching approaches, and discover support resources and services available through the Hong Kong Technology and Innovation Support Centre (HKTISC).

Mr Yannick TANG
Consultant, Intellectual Property Management, HKPC

Mr Tang is an Intellectual Property Consultant at the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), providing patent search and IP advisory services to inventors, SMEs and technology innovators through the Hong Kong Technology & Innovation Support Centre (HKTISC). He has over 10 years of experience across biotechnology research, intellectual property management and international innovation project coordination.

Prior to joining HKPC, Mr Tang held roles at a major national research infrastructure in China and a French national research institute, covering intellectual property, compliance, international research collaboration and government-funded innovation projects. His expertise spans patent information analysis, IP management and technology-focused innovation projects, with a strong academic background from Tsinghua University, ParisTech and UPEC.
