Professor, Associate Director of Materials, Design and Manufacturing Facility

Research Area: Computational mechanics, Data-driven computational methods, Multidisciplinary design and optimization, Metamaterials, Microscale gas and heat transfer

Prof. Ye received her Ph.D. degree from Cornell University. Before she joined the faculty of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, she was a Postdoctoral Associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then an assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research interests include Numerical techniques (BEM, Monte Carlo methods, MD), Design and optimization, Data-driven computational methods, Metamaterials, Modeling and design of micro/nano systems, Rarefied gas transport and phonon transport.

Research Area: Human-Computer Interaction

Prof. Ma received her PhD in Computer Science at Princeton University. She was a post-doctoral researcher at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and before that a research fellow in the National University of Singapore (NUS) in the Information Systems department. Before joining HKUST, She was a researcher of Human-Computer Interaction at Noah's Ark Lab, Huawei Tech. Investment Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong.

Prof. SHEN Shaojie

Associate Professor, Director of HKUST-DJI Joint Innovation Laboratory

Research Area: Control and Robotic Systems

Prof. Shen received his PhD in Electrical and Systems Engineering at University of Pennsylvania. He is the founding director of the HKUST-DJI Joint Innovation Laboratory (HDJI Lab). His research interests are in the areas of robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles, with focus on state estimation, sensor fusion, localization and mapping, and autonomous navigation in complex environments.

Assistant Professor

Research Area: Advanced Materials, Energy Technologies, Environmental Engineering

Prof. Kim received his PhD in Chemical Engineering at University of Michigan. He was a Postdoctoral Associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology before joining HKUST. His research interests include Stretchable Electronic and Optical Materials, Water/Gas Purification, Electrochemical Energy Generation.
