GSCI Friday Seminar: Transforming Transportation: Developing Smart Mobility in Hong Kong
Speaker: Ir Alex AU Ka-kit, Assistant Commissioner for Transport of the Transport Department
Through the development of transport infrastructure and the transport policy of according priority to public transport over the years, Hong Kong has built a world-class traffic and transport system that offers an efficient flow of people and goods.
With continuous growth in traffic and transport demand, it is increasingly challenging, expensive and unsustainable to match our social and leisure needs. In response, the Transport Department (TD) has been sparing no effort in launching various smart mobility initiatives under the Smart Mobility Roadmap for Hong Kong and the Smart City Blueprint for Hong Kong 2.0. By leveraging technology, these initiatives enable more effective traffic management, alleviate traffic congestion, and optimise the use of our limited road space.
Ir Alex AU will share TD’s successful implementation of various smart mobility initiatives over the past few years and upcoming plans so as to continue providing a safe, reliable, environmentally friendly and efficient traffic and transport system and further shaping Hong Kong into a smart city.
