GSCI Friday Seminar Series - Kowloon East: The Making of Hong Kong’s CBD2
The Energizing Kowloon East Office (EKEO) was established in June 2012 to steer and facilitate the transformation of Kowloon East (KE) into another core business district (CBD2) to sustain Hong Kong’s economic development. Specifically, this would involve land use reviews, enhanced urban design, improved connectivity and the associated infrastructure. On smart city development in KE, EKEO is carrying out Proof-of-Concept trials to examine the effectiveness of different innovative concepts and their implementation modes and strategies, and collaborating with different researches and academic institutions, using KE as a testbed in investigating smart city development. Ms Joyce Tang, the Senior Works Consolidation Manager of EKEO, will share with us first-hand on the transformation journey from a government perspective.
Joyce is a civil engineer and has extensive experience in planning, design and project management of civil infrastructure projects. She joined the multi-disciplinary Energizing Kowloon East Office in 2014 and is mainly responsible for taking forward the “Walkable Kowloon East” and “Smart City Pilot Area” initiatives.
