Classics Unlocked: When Chinese Music Meets Jazz – A Journey from Tradition to Reinvention

Presented by KD Music, a vibrant local ensemble of talented musicians, “Classics Unlocked: When Chinese Music Meets Jazz” takes beloved traditional melodies and reimagines them through jazz harmonies, contemporary classical textures, and global rhythmic influences. The result preserves the soul of the originals while offering a fresh, vibrant listening experience, revealing new dimensions of timeless beauty.

The concert features a live demonstration segment: musicians first perform a traditional piece in its authentic form on Dizi, Erhu, Pipa, and Zhongruan, then show how jazz rhythms, harmonies, and grooves are layered in—transforming the familiar into something strikingly new. Through this side-by-side comparison, you’ll witness how ancient tunes take on a jazzy, contemporary character that feels both refreshing and full of possibility.

This is simply a concert to enjoy—no pressure, no classroom. Come, sit back, and let the cross-cultural sounds wash over you. Let the classics swing in ways you never expected, and discover that tradition can be wonderfully relaxing when it meets jazz.

 

打開經典：中樂遇上 Jazz——傳統旋律的當代改編之旅

由本地優秀音樂人組成的嘉迪音樂（KD Music）呈獻，《打開經典：中樂遇上 Jazz》以多首膾炙人口的傳統經典旋律為核心，透過爵士和聲、當代古典手法及世界節奏元素的注入，為這些樂曲賦予全新面貌。改編過程不僅保留原作的精神與美感，更讓觀眾以嶄新的聽覺角度，重新感受經典的永恆魅力。

音樂會特別設計現場示範環節，演奏家將以笛子、二胡、琵琶、中阮，原汁原味演繹傳統曲目，隨後即席展現如何將爵士節奏、和聲與律動逐步融入其中。透過原版與改編版的即時對比，觀眾將親身見證傳統旋律如何搖身一變，披上爵士的迷人色彩。

這是一場讓人放鬆心情的音樂會：放下平日壓力，走進爵士與中樂交織的現場，讓熟悉的旋律以意想不到的方式重現眼前，也讓我們一同探索傳統樂曲的無限可能！

KD Music 嘉迪音樂

KD Music is a dynamic collective of virtuoso musicians, all graduates of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, with extensive performance experience. Founded in 2018, the group has performed at a wide range of events—from banquets and mall shows to charity functions and school outreach programs. Over the years, KD Music has consistently pushed boundaries by integrating jazz, world music, and diverse influences into traditional Chinese repertoire, breathing new life into timeless melodies.

嘉迪音樂（KD Music）成立於2018年，成員均為香港演藝學院畢業的頂尖青年樂手，擁有豐富的演出經驗。該團活躍於各類宴會典禮、商場表演、慈善活動及學校巡演，多年來持續突破傳統框架，將爵士、世界音樂等多元元素融入經典中樂曲目，為傳統旋律注入全新活力。

Please arrive at the venue 15 minutes before the showtime.

Children under the age of 6 will not be admitted.
6歲以下小童恕不招待。

The performance will run for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes without intermission.  
演出約1小時15分鐘，不設中場休息。

 

ADMISSION RULES 入場守則

Free-seating arrangement is adopted on a first-come-first-served basis. 
不設劃位，先到先得。

No food or drinks are allowed. 
嚴禁飲食。

Unauthorized photo-taking, audio and video recording are strictly prohibited. 
未經許可，嚴禁攝影、錄音或錄影。

Latecomers will only be admitted during suitable breaks in the program. Please follow the usher's guidance on which door to use.
為免影響節目進行, 遲到者需按場地工作人員指示在合適時間及指定入口進場。

The registered quota will be released to walk-ins if not claimed 15 minutes after the show begins.
已登記的名額如於開場後 15 分鐘仍未入座，將開放予現場輪候觀眾。

The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the program, performers and seating arrangement. In case of dispute, the decision of the organizer shall be final.
