Abstract

This seminar presents the physical and engineering principles of integrated silicon-photonic quantum computing. While matter-based qubits face significant scaling and cryogenic bottlenecks, photonic architectures leverage established CMOS manufacturing infrastructure to offer a highly scalable path to fault-tolerance. In this talk, we trace the lifecycle of on-chip photonic qubits, covering their generation via spontaneous four-wave mixing, manipulation through programmable interferometer networks, and high-efficiency superconducting detection. Finally, we discuss the monolithic integration of these components on a single silicon chip, demonstrating how laboratory-scale optical configurations are translated into a highly scalable, modular quantum computing platform.
