Prof. Alex Pui-Wai LEE

Prof. Alex Pui-Wai LEE is a physician-innovator working at the intersection of structural cardiology, biomedical engineering, and artificial intelligence. At CUHK, he directs a research program dedicated to translating engineering concepts into bedside care and catheterization laboratory practice. His platform integrates explainable AI, interventional echocardiography, 3D printing, and robotic echo systems to advance transcatheter therapies. His work also encompasses imaging-driven research in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Fabry disease, cardiac amyloidosis, and landmark heart failure trials (FINEART-HF, VICTORIA, VICTOR).

With 360+ publications and 7,100+ citations (h-index: 42), his research optimizes cath and echo workflows while shaping international clinical guidelines. Looking ahead, Prof. Lee aims to build a world-class translational cardiology platform, secure major grants, and bridge clinical medicine with engineering. Beyond research, he is deeply committed to educating Hong Kong’s next generation of doctors—building clinical competence and compassion while cultivating the curiosity and creativity needed to drive medical innovation.
